Photographers Field Day
January 15, 2020
_
Three walls of 8’ high windows let the light flood into this historic gothic brownstone building, built in 1874. The new downtown Newburyport studio boasts lofty ceilings, arched windows, exposed brick, wabi-sabi details, & white hardwood floors.
…and you are cordially invited to photograph in it first!
The studio, built by a creative, for creatives, will officially be open for rent in March 2020. It started with one empty, abandoned floor and a big dream to make it an inspiring place to share with other creatives. Kelsy, the Founder of Refinery 43, is both inspired by travel, minimalism and design. This creative vision is what brings the collection of curated props, incredible textures, modern touches, mid-century pieces, raw materials, plants & tons natural light together to make this the perfect place for your next photoshoot. Photographers Field Day
January 15 DETAILS
Calling all natural light enthusiasts! Refinery 43 will host a free open house for talented local photographers to be the first to come and shoot in this new space on Wednesday, January 15 at 70 State Street in downtown Newburyport — in exchange for using your best edited photos to help promote the rental space (giving credit where credit is due). Not only do we want to showcase local talent but show the many ways this floor can be photographed by putting your own creative spin on it — so feel free to bring a favorite small prop, model, food product, flower arrangement, puppy or just you and your camera!
There will be an online Google Doc signup sheet to reserve your time slot which you can access in the button below. Time slots are on a first come first serve basis with no more than 2 photographers shooting at a time. You’ll have 1 hour to shoot anything you’d like in 1,000 square feet. If you’re unable to attend please pass this along to a fellow photographer who would be interested.
While the studio is still a work in progress, furniture (leather couch, hanging chair and accent chair) and a white paper-roll backdrop will be available for use. There is free 2 hour street parking in front of the building.
Learn more about the new studio & creative collective here & see how far it has transformed in our Instagram Highlight 70 State! Lastly, when you book & pay for the studio in advance (between March - June 2020) you’ll receive $25 off a half day rental or $45 off a full day rental! We can’t wait for you to visit!
